Between Longchamp and the Station, a House Full of Material
Our Marseille isn't down by the harbour but a little up the hill, between the Palais Longchamp and Saint-Charles station. A nineteenth-century apartment, high rooms, tall windows, the light arrives late and stays long. This is where LAROGY lives, and it is the showroom too. Living and showing are the same thing, because a room only convinces when someone truly lives in it.
The house and its quarter
The streets around Boulevard Longchamp grew in the nineteenth century, when Marseille turned wealthy and built generously. The Palais Longchamp stands at the end of the road like a stage of stone and water. Our apartment shares that origin, high ceilings, stucco, French doors, a floor of tomettes, hexagonal terracotta tiles that have carried generations.
A showroom you live in
Lime plaster on the walls, warm and matte. A table of solid wood, linen at the windows, ceramics from the region, pieces with patina, each chosen, not ordered. Nothing is on display here, everything is in use. So you don't see a piece under a spotlight, you see how it lives, how the light moves across it, how it feels to drink a coffee here.
