No Set, Backdrops That Grew

The finest backdrops no one builds, they come with time. A wall that has already lived, a floor with marks, a material that does not pretend to be new. Our rooms in Marseille are such backdrops, grown rather than staged, and that is exactly why they work on camera.

Patina doesn't lie

New things often look empty in an image, they lack time. Patina, by contrast, speaks at once. A brass handle gone dark, lime with fine cracks, wood polished by a thousand hands. No prop can replace that. Anyone who wants to photograph the real thing needs real surfaces.

The large live-in kitchen

The heart of the rooms is the large live-in kitchen. Plenty of space, good light, a place where a whole scene can breathe. The large, organically shaped table, open shelves, ceramics in use. Nothing is pretended here, here you really cook, and every image shows it.

The bathroom as a set too

Even the bathroom is a subject. Terrazzo on the floor and washstand, a mirror with a soft edge, warm light on cool stone. In about ten square metres there is more atmosphere than in many a built set. Graphic, calm and yet warm. By appointment we show you the rooms.
